How To Update Volvo VIDA DiCE 2019D SQL Server

Volvo VIDA 2014D SQL Server.

WHAT IS THIS?

This guide is good for those of you, just like me, who desires programs to be effective at peak performance or higher to date. In the following information I will teach you how to upgrade Volvo VIDA 2014D in Windows 10 x64 using the latest Microsoft SQL Server Express 2016 x64 rather than the 2008 R2 SP1 x86 one that will be somewhat incompatible with a minimum of Windows 10, and brimming with security holes.

IMPORTANT!

ALL FILES TO BE DOWNLOADED IN THIS OPTIONAL GUIDE MUST BE THE EXACT SPECIFIC VERSION AND LANGUAGE SPECIFIED IN THE GUIDE, DOUBLE CHECK NAME AND SIZE OF THE FILES BEFORE INSTALL!

PREREQUISITES:

- You need to have followed my "Installing Volvo VIDA 2014D on Windows 10 Guide" and also have that working, this upgrade will NOT fix a non-working installing VIDA.

- Microsoft Windows 10 x64-only.

WORKFLOW:

a. Follow "Installing Volvo VIDA 2014D on Windows 10 Guide".

b. Download the required files.

c. Upgrade the VIDA database and SQL Server to your latest SQL Server Express 2016.

d. Optional tweaking.

GUIDE:

If you have a previous version of VIDA attached to your computer or maybe a failed install of VIDA I recommend strongly that you try step 1 through 8 around my "Volvo VIDA 2014D and Windows 10 Pro Guide", BEFORE jumping to the first step and continuing on this optional guide.

A. Create a temporary directory in C:, name it "VIDAInstall".

B. Download the Microsoft SQL Server 2016 Express installer in this posting that, when executed, will show options to perform a setting up or download media only. "SQLServer2016-SSEI-Expr.exe" (3.07 MB) here:

- After the download is complete, open the VIDAInstall directory and make up a new folder in it, name it "SQL2016". Move the "SQLServer2016-SSEI-Expr.exe" to your C:VIDAInstallSQL2016 folder.

Instance to upgrade: "VIDA" and after that click Next.

C. Upgrade to Microsoft SQL Server 2016 Express:

- Locate "C:VIDAInstallSQL2016SQLServer2016-SSEI-Expr.exe" and run it.

- Select "Download Media".

- Select Language "English"

- Select Package "Express Core".

- Select Download Location "C:VIDAInstallSQL2016".

- Select "Download".

- Wait for the download to complete after which select "Close" then confirm exit with "Yes".

- Locate "C:VIDAInstallSQL2016SQLEXPR_x64_ENU.exe" and run it. Let it extract on the default path (C:VIDAInstallSQL2016SQLEXPR_x64_ENU).

- Select "Upgrade from the previous version of SQL Server".

- Accept the license terms and click on Next.

- Let the installer pay attention to updates in case found allow it to download and set them up.

- Instance to upgrade: "VIDA" and after that click Next.

- Finally click Close, and exit SQL Server Installation Center.
