When Setup Asks For A Reboot

how to set up windows 10It’s a how-to guide to set up Volvo VIDA 2014D on first of all Windows 10 Pro x64 and definitely will work on most Windows 7, 8, 8.1 (32- and 64-bit) or longer, especially with a system where VIDA has previously failed to put in or a previous version of VIDA is installed then uninstalled. On a system like that, the cleaning part step # 1 through 8 is a vital part.

Usual errors on such systems are:

- An X is presented in Internet Explorer were the DICE Communication tool selector needs to be.

- You cannot enter anything from the Username login dialogue.

- "VIDA cannot start as port 80 is in use".

- "VIDA NOT OK".

Check the troubleshooting section at the conclusion of this guide for solutions.

REQUIREMENTS:- Microsoft Windows 10 Pro x86/x64 - I can't help but recommend that you go on to Windows to 64-bit. Especially if you are intending upgrading to SQL Server 2016.

- Volvo VIDA 2014D DVD or ISO-file

- VIDA Patch (2014A.exe is employed by VIDA 2014A through 2014D). File details:

2014A.exe 137 KB (140 785 bytes)

CRC32: E5F6F31C

MD5: 4E8084C08BDC59CB7D4DA16E708CDD8B

SHA-1: 4A1A38ECBF4608F7E36FDB38867F3A03D96D1B4C

GUIDE:If you could have a clean install of Windows and have absolutely not previously installed any version of VIDA or SQL (failed or you cannot): begin on this post with step 9.

On a system where VIDA has previously failed to put in or a previous version of VIDA may be installed and after that uninstalled, the cleaning part step one through 8 is the MOST IMPORTANT part, you will recognize that pre-install guide here:

http://blog.obd2france.com/2016/09/20/how-to-clean-up-a-previous-version-of-volvo-vida-2014d/

STEPS 9 THROUGH END, INSTALLING SECTION:9. Prepare your installation and download necessary files:

9a. Create a temporary directory in C:, and name it "VidaInstall". Continue with either x86 or x64 steps dependant upon your OS installation. x86 preps both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows, but I STRONGLY recommend someone to follow the x64 steps on 64-bit Windows because the guide ASSUMES that you simply do.

nn_x86: This step is made for Windows 32-bit. Skip this task if you are on Windows 64-bit.

nn_x64: This step is perfect for Windows 64-bit. Skip this if you are on Windows 32-bit.

9c_x86. Prepare:

- After the Java SE Development Kit download is complete, open the VIDAInstall directory and make a new folder within, name it "JDK7u80". Move the "jdk-7u80-windows-i586.exe" towards the C:VIDAInstallJDK7u80 folder.

- After the SQL Server SP3 download is complete, open the VIDAInstall directory and make up a new folder inside, name it "SQL2008R2SP3". Move the "SQLServer2008R2SP3-KB2979597-x86-ENU.exe" on the C:VIDAInstallSQL2008R2SP3 folder.

9c_x64. Prepare:

- After the Java SE Development Kit download is complete, open the VIDAInstall directory and make up a new folder within, name it "JDK7u80". Move the "jdk-7u80-windows-x64.exe" towards the C:VIDAInstallJDK7u80 folder.

- After the SQL Server SP3 download is complete, open the VIDAInstall directory and make a new folder in that room, name it "SQL2008R2SP3". Move the "SQLServer2008R2SP3-KB2979597-x64-ENU.exe" for the C:VIDAInstallSQL2008R2SP3 folder.

9d. Install Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 Express:

- Open a Command Prompt: Click Start and enter "CMD", then right click "Command Prompt" and select "Run as Administrator". A new CMD-prompt will be. Copy this line according to your architecture and after that paste it by right clicking within the CMD-window and select "Paste", then hit enter:

- For Windows x86: (substitute D: to your actual VIDA DVD location))

Code:

"D:3PPProductsSqlExpressSQLEXPR_x86_ENU.exe" /ACTION=Install /IACCEPTSQLSERVERLICENSETERMS /ROLE=AllFeatures_WithDefaults /INSTANCENAME=VIDA /SAPWD=GunnarS3g3 /SECURITYMODE=SQL /SQLSVCACCOUNT="NT AUTHORITYSYSTEM" /BROWSERSVCSTARTUPTYPE=Automatic /TCPENABLED=1 /HIDECONSOLE /ENU /QS

- For Windows x64:

"C:VIDAInstallSQL2008R2SP1SQLEXPR_x64_ENU.exe" /ACTION=Install /IACCEPTSQLSERVERLICENSETERMS /ROLE=AllFeatures_WithDefaults /INSTANCENAME=VIDA /SAPWD=GunnarS3g3 /SECURITYMODE=SQL /SQLSVCACCOUNT="NT AUTHORITYSYSTEM" /BROWSERSVCSTARTUPTYPE=Automatic /TCPENABLED=1 /HIDECONSOLE /ENU /QS

- The installation of SQL Server will run alone without any user intervention. Wait until it really is complete and close the Command Prompt.

10. Optional step: Make sure Internet Explorer 11 is installed via Control Panel: View by: Small icons, "Programs and Features", select "Turn Windows features on or off" make certain Internet Explorer 11 is checked (which can be the default in Windows 10).

11. Optional step: If you don't want the automatic download of .NET Framework 3.5 through the installation:

- Go to Control Panel, open "Programs and Features", select "Turn Windows features on or off".

- Check the box for ".NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)" (if it can be not already checked) then click OK.

12-15. Steps removed.

16. Install VIDA from your VIDA 2014D DVD:

16a. Step removed.

16b. Locate VIDA Setup (setup.exe) in "D:InstallDVDVida_dvdheaderMain" (NOT the setup.exe inside Vida folder) (substitute D: to your actual VIDA DVD location), right go through the file and select Properties, go to your Compatibility tab, check "Run this method in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows 7" from your drop down list, then click OK.

16c. Now run the "setup.exe", still from the Main folder.

- Select VIDA All-in-one then the language(s) to set up. (WARNING! You cannot install another language after you've upgraded SQL!) (For a multi-language setup, first follow this guide after which my "VIDA Multi-language Guide").

- Leave the default Destination folder out of the box (C:VIDA) and click on Next.

- Accept the License Agreement.

- If mobile phone asks to download .NET Framework 3.5, select to "Download and install this feature". After the downloading and installing is conducted click Close.

- When the Vida Configurator can be seen, leave the default selection about the Location tab along with, which can be "Internet", (will not change anything about the other tabs) click Save after which Close, Close.

- WARNING! If you get an "Unhandled Exception" during Multi-language setup, begin to see the Troubleshooting section after this guide BEFORE you continue!

- When Setup requests for a reboot, select "No, I will restart my computer later" then click Finish.

- If Windows Firewall Security Alert turns up for "Java(TM) Platform SE binary", tick both "Private networks" and "Public networks" and click on "Allow access".

16d. To fix an incompatibility downside to this old Java version that comes pre-installed with VIDA and Windows Update "KB3163018" (and as well pre-installed with Windows 10 v.1607) you must update Java:

- Uninstall all Java versions (otherwise already succeeded in doing so).

16e. Make sure that VidaMonitor and Java are closed (they are started on condition that you have installed multi-language, but check to make certain anyway): Start Windows Task Manager and then click "More details". Locate and right click "VidaMonitor.exe" about the "Details" tab and select "End task", confirm by clicking "End process". Do the in final summary is java.exe and javaw.exe. Close Windows Task Manager.

- Close Internet Explorer.

nn_x86: This step is good for Windows 32-bit. Skip this if you are on Windows 64-bit.

nn_x64: This step is perfect for Windows 64-bit. Skip this task if you are on Windows 32-bit.

16f_x86. On Windows x86 do the subsequent:

- Install: C:VIDAInstallJDK7u80jdk-7u80-windows-i586.exe

- Rename "jdk" folder in "C:VIDA" to "jdk.old" (or delete it).

- Copy folder "jdk1.7.0_80" from "C:Program FilesJava" to "C:VIDA".

- Rename folder "jdk1.7.0_80" in "C:VIDA" to "jdk".

- Uninstall "Java SE Development Kit 7 Update 80" and "Java 7 Update 80" from Control Panel Programs and Features, you don't need it anymore as all of the files VIDA uses we've already copied.

16f_x64. On Windows x64 do the subsequent:

- Install: C:VIDAInstallJDK7u80jdk-7u80-windows-x64.exe

- Rename "jdk" folder in "C:VIDA" to "jdk.old" (or delete it).

- Copy folder "jdk1.7.0_80" from "C:Program FilesJava" to "C:VIDA".

- Rename folder "jdk1.7.0_80" in "C:VIDA" to "jdk".

- Uninstall "Java SE Development Kit 7 Update 80 (64-bit)" and "Java 7 Update 80 (64-bit)" from Control Panel Programs and Features, you tend not to need it anymore as every one of the files VIDA uses we now have already copied.

17. Now it really is time to put in the VIDA Patch (2014A.exe -- look at the size or along with this the MD5 or SHA-1 under Requirements in the guide above, to complement. You might otherwise have downloaded the herpes virus), precisely the same Patch works best for VIDA 2014A through 2014D:

17a. Make sure that VidaMonitor is closed: Start Windows Task Manager and click on "More details". Locate and right click "VidaMonitor.exe" for the "Details" tab and select "End task", confirm by clicking "End process". Close Windows Task Manager.

nn_x86: This step is good for Windows 32-bit. Skip this task if you are on Windows 64-bit.

nn_x64: This step is designed for Windows 64-bit. Skip this task if you are on Windows 32-bit.

17b_x86: Now it's the perfect time to run the VIDA Patch, a similar Patch utilizes VIDA 2014A through 2014D. "2014A.exe". Run it Administrator and then leave the default Destination folder out of the box (c:) and select Install. Ignore the taskkill error. Now skip to step 18.

17b_x64: Do NOT try to set up it by running the exe, instead use Z-zip to unpack the compressed files instantly to C: (running it does not always assist this setup and can sometimes not patch set up . correctly).

17c_x64. Right click and select "Extract files..." Enter C: within the "Extract to" field and untick the "2014A" path.

17d_x64. The package will extract on the VIDA-folder, overwrite all files when asked.

17e_x64. Locate the file filldb.cmd within the "C:VIDApatch" folder and after that right visit it, select "Run as administrator". You will briefly go to a CMD-prompt that opens and closes quickly, it is by design no other confirmation will show up.

18. Now apply the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 SP3 Express Service Pack (KB2979597 - a prerequisite with the SQL 2016 upgrade):

18a. Open a Command Prompt: Click Start and enter "CMD", then right click "Command Prompt" and select "Run as Administrator". A new CMD-prompt will be. Copy the next line determined by your architecture then paste it by right clicking inside CMD-window and select "Paste", then hit enter:

- For Windows x86: (substitute D: to your actual VIDA DVD location))

Code:

"C:VIDAInstallSQL2008R2SP3SQLServer2008R2SP3-KB2979597-x86-ENU.exe" /IACCEPTSQLSERVERLICENSETERMS /ALLINSTANCES /HIDECONSOLE /ENU /QS

- For Windows x64:

Code:

"C:VIDAInstallSQL2008R2SP3SQLServer2008R2SP3-KB2979597-x64-ENU.exe" /IACCEPTSQLSERVERLICENSETERMS /ALLINSTANCES /HIDECONSOLE /ENU /QS

- The upgrade of SQL Server will run themselves without any user intervention. Wait until it can be complete after which close the Command Prompt.

18c. Reboot.

19. If Windows Firewall Security Alert occurs for "Java(TM) Platform SE binary", tick both "Private networks" and "Public networks" and click on "Allow access".

20. Now you needs to be ready to try VIDA out, but wait with the VIDA Monitor to alter to a green play icon (VIDA Monitor is simply by the task tray):

20a. Connect your DiCE-device in your computer.

20b. Start VIDA All-In-One

20c. If Internet Explorer ask to make use of Recommended security and compatibility settings chose "Don't use recommended settings".

20d. If Internet Explorer asks permission to allow Several add-ons, click Choose add-ons and Enable both 'Adobe PDF Link Helper' and 'WebCGMHlprObj Class'. If Internet Explorer only asks permission allow 'WebCGMHlprObj Class' click "Enable".

20e. Login with admin, 1, 2, 3 to 4, determined by your location/market.

SOLUTION: You have not applied the patch correctly, do step 17 again then reboot.

Volvo VIDA DICE 2014D TROUBLESHOOTING:PROBLEM: An X is presented in Internet Explorer were the DICE Communication tool selector needs to be (this occurs after a Windows upgrade).

SOLUTION: Locate on your own VIDA DVD your directory D:InstallUtils (substitute D: to your actual VIDA DVD location) and also the file "EnableIEHostingx64.reg" and merge it together with the registry by double simply clicking it and after that select "Yes" and "OK". For x86 systems do the do i think the "EnableIEHostingx86.reg"

PROBLEM: You cannot enter anything from the Username login dialogue.

SOLUTION: You have not applied the patch correctly, do step 17 again and after that reboot.

SOLUTION 2: Install the patch the "old way":

1. Make sure that VidaMonitor and Java are closed: Start Windows Task Manager and click on "More details". Locate and right click "VidaMonitor.exe" around the "Details" tab and select "End task", confirm by clicking "End process". Do the do i think the java.exe and javaw.exe. Close Windows Task Manager. If Windows Firewall Security Alert can be seen for "Java(TM) Platform SE binary", tick both "Private networks" and "Public networks" and then click "Allow access".

PROBLEM: "VIDA cannot start as port 80 has already been in use".

SOLUTION: Uninstall or disable any services maybe you have installed which utilizes port 80, usually Web-servers. IIS could be the culprit: Control Panel/Programs and Features/Turn Windows features on or off - Internet Information Services.

PROBLEM:

Could not load file or assembly 'BizServices.VehicleImageRepository, Version=2.0.5394.27556, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of their dependencies. The system cannot discover the file specified.

SOLUTION: NONE YET I finished up cleaning ALOT of stuff in Windows then a Windows "repair upgrade". After that, it worked. This is the file it says it wouldn't find:

"C:VIDAjbossstandalonedeploymentsVidaEar.earV idaWeb.warDiagnosticsBizServices.VehicleImageRep ository.DLL"

Same error appears in a working VIDA environment should you temporary rename or remove BizServices.VehicleImageRepository.DLL.

PROBLEM:

During Multi-language installation, occasionally, this error can look while trying to set up second language:

Unhandled Exception Error Number: 0x80004005 Description: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Login timeout expired Setup can terminate.

SOLUTION:

- Select OK then prepare to become greeted because of the infamous "VIDA NOT OK" message.

- Select "Yes, I want to restart my computer now."

- After the reboot, be sure that VidaMonitor is closed: Start Windows Task Manager and then click "More details". Locate and right click "VidaMonitor.exe" about the "Details" tab and select "End task", confirm by clicking "End process".

- Now re-run setup, again select VIDA All-in-one, after which select exactly the additional language that you just tried to fit when it failed (it's probably already selected -- I here presume that you just tried to put in an additional language to en-US).

- When Setup wants a reboot, select "No, I will restart my computer later." and click Finish.

- Now still follow my guide from step 16d.

PROBLEM: Other problem.

SOLUTION: Other problems is usually solved by starting over and have the steps 1 through 8 instead of skipping them during my guide. Print out the guide in writing and complete a check mark for your things you've got already done to be certain you are not missing any crucial point.
